NEUROLOGICAL PROBLEMS TREATMENT

STROKES

These are brain attacks that occur when there is a block in the blood supply to the brain. In this the brain does not received the required oxygen and nutrients leading brain cells to die. The condition is a medical emergency and the patient must be provided with an immediate medical attention.

CEREBRAL PALSY

It is a condition in which a patient experiences loss of motor function. Cerebral palsy is a result of damage to the brain due to injury or abnormal development or growth of a brain in a child. This leads to loss of movements, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance.

HEAD INJURY

A head injury is experienced when a person is in a trauma to the skull, scalp or the brain They injury may range from a minor bump on the skull or a series to brain injury.

SPINAL CORD INJURY

Spinal cord injury is damage to your spinal cord or spinal nerves at the end of the spinal canal. The injury has lifetime effects for they lead to permanent changes in strength, sensation and other body functions beneath the sight of the injury.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

It is a disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. In this, the communication between the brain and the rest of the body gets hampered due to the immune system’s attack on the protective sheath that covers the nerve fibers. This deteriorates or permanently damages the nerves. Depending upon the nerve damage, a person experiencing this may loose his ability to walk independently or at all.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE

Parkinson’s disease is a non-curable disease in which dopamine producing nerve cells present in the brain gets affected. The symptoms for this disease include rigidity, tremors, and changes in speech and gait. After diagnosis, treatments can help relieve symptoms.

GUILLAIN BARRE SYNDROME

This is a rare disorder in which a body’s immune system starts attacking your nerves. Its symptoms include tingling and weakness in your extremities. The sensations usually spread over the whole body eventually paralyzing it. As a medical emergency, the person experiencing it must be admitted to the hospital immediately to receive the necessary treatment.

PERIPHERAL NERVE INJURIES

Peripheral nerves are fragile nerves that link your brain and spinal cord. A nerve injury can affect the ability of your brain to communicate with your muscles and organs. Stretching or pressing of these nerves may result in the nerves being injured.

DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY

It is a condition in which a child experiences slow developmental growth than the expected time. It may be a major or minor delay in developmental process. This delay may occur is language, social, motor or thinking skills.
The doctor usually diagnoses it after parent’s observations of their child’s progression being slower than the rest of the children of his/her age.

DYSPRAXIA

It is a condition of the brain wherein a person experiencing it finds it hard to plan and co-ordinate his/her physical movements. Children suffering form the same have a difficulty in maintaining balance and posture, which makes them, appear out of sync with the environment. It can affect the development of gross motor skills like walking or jumping. It can also affect fine motor skills

TRANSVERSE MYELITIS

It is a neurological condition where the spinal cord gets inflamed. The inflammation causes damage to the nerve fibers leading to deterioration of myelin coating leading to reduce electrical conductivity in the central nervous system.

MOTOR NEURON DISEASE

It is a disease that attacks the nervous system and weakens the muscles therefore impacting the physical condition. The duration of this disease varies from years to lifetime. The break down of nerve cells reduces the functionality of the muscles that these nerves supply to. This disease is rare in nature and its patient’s discomfort can be relieved through medication and therapy since the disease itself is incurable.

MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY

It is a medical condition which causes progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass. It may be genetic. The abnormal genes lead to muscle deformation making a person dependent to wheelchair. The disease affects the breathing and the swallowing.

MYOPATHY

It is a group of disease that results in weakening of the muscles that causes muscle weakness, cramps, and spasms due to the major defect in the muscle fiber. The muscle fiber is also known as myocyte or muscle cell.
